Project: Youth Music Initiative DVD
Client: Scottish Arts Council

About this project
Music matters. Young people spend more time listening to, talking about or making music than any other creative pursuit. In 2003 the Scottish Government (then the Scottish Executive) established the Youth Music Initiative (YMI), making a commitment of £37.5million. Nearly five years on the YMI has made a huge difference to young people’s experiences of music-making both in and out of school. This film provides a great snapshot of some of the innovative approaches to how music activities are being delivered across Scotland. Musician David Scott talks us through a fantastic musical journey that will inspire you to search for your nearest YMI music workshop.
